Is Britain Happy?

I am delighted that tonight, ITV is airing the programme “Is Britain Happy?

Action for Happiness are doing great work and it all supports the message I share in businesses, charities, public sector organisations and schools:

Happiness is a fundamental ingredient to success, luck, health and long life, amongst other things.  Happy people are more productive, better problem-solvers and positively affect the bottom line for the organisations they work in.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the programme has to offer and am delighted that they’ll be talking about Mathieu Ricard, whose book “The Art of Happiness” is one of  my favourite books.

I’m also looking forward to seeing what their 7-day challenge entails, as I set pupils/students in schools a 7-day Happiness Challenge after working with them, too! 🙂

Happiness ChallengeMathieu’s definition of happiness is one of my favourites, too: “If happiness is indeed a way of being, a state of consciousness and inner freedom, there is essentially nothing to prevent us from achieving it.”   I love it so much, I’ve quoted it right at the start of my book “Recipe for Happiness”.

I can’t wait to watch tonight’s programme, but wait I will, as I will practise what I preach and savour time with my family tonight as one of my ‘Little Happiness Ingredients’.   It’s Hannah’s birthday tonight and a very special 15th one it is, too, especially given the summer we’ve had with her surgery and the latest trouble with her lung inflammation (which appears to be getting better at last!).  I’ll report back after I’ve watched the programme!
